Benzoyl peroxide is an antibacterial medicine, with a mild drying effect. Usually Benzoyl peroxide topical is administered to treat acne.

It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Do not use abrasive, harsh, or drying soaps and cleansers while taking Benzoyl peroxide topical. Try to avoid contact with clothing and hair, as it may cause bleaching. Do not use sunscreen containing PABA in combination with Benzoyl peroxide, as you may have temporary skin discoloration.

You should not use Benzoyl peroxide topical on sunburned, windburned, dry, chapped, or irritated skin. It may lead to the worsening of these conditions.
